C J Harris Elementary School8

My child has been attending CJ Harris for 2 years now. So far the teachers have been really good; however, administration is very disorganized and lacks solid leadership. No one goes above and beyond. The just get by. There is nothing outstanding about this school. The same can be said about parental involvement. Some within the PTA try really hard but the lack of participation is frustrating. Overall I am not thrilled with my child attending PISD but with a new school board in place; hopefully things will improve. Oh, and something else to be noted is the knit-picky dress code but not really uniforms. I would prefer either uniforms or not. Most of the other suburbans school districts never us do not have this dress code nor any notable problems without it.

This school has poor discipline practices. Inappropriate behavior is rewarded with prizes from the administration. The problems are simply being ignored. It is the same procedure that inexperienced and inadequate parents take in giving a child candy if they promise to stop crying. I am very displeased with CJ Harris

My son has been attending CJ Harris for several years now. They have a very safe and disciplined learning environment, and I totally agree with the previous parent regarding Mrs. Griggs she is the best! The only problem I have with this school is their inability to challenge students that are gifted. My son is ADHD and he is in the GT program, but instead of focusing on a plan to challenge him in different ways, they have tried over the years to push us to put him on medication. never!

This school is really a shut door school, does not want parent involvement.

My son is in 1st grade at C.J. Harris and he loves school! His teacher is Mrs. S. Griggs and she is an amazing woman! She has helped my son become an incredibly bright child who loves to learn. Her class is the advanced learning class and my son has excelled because of her teaching skills. As a person, she is very patient and accepting of all types of children. The administrative staff at the school are also dedicated people that care about the children as students and as people. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this academic organization and I look forward to my daughter, who is 3, attending the school.
